BRONX, N.Y. – For the sixth time in program history, the Fordham men's soccer team has earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Rams will travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to face Cornell in the tournament's opening round on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 5 p.m. The winner of Thursday's match will then head to Pittsburgh to take on the No. 2 Pitt Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 5 p.m.
The Rams received their bid after compiling an 8-5-5 record against the seventh toughest schedule in the country. Fordham, which finished 29
th in the RPI, tallied a pair of results against teams in the top six of the RPI, defeating Dayton (6) and playing Hofstra (5) to a scoreless draw, both on the road. The Rams also played Penn (7), Princeton (17) and UMass (23) during the regular season.
Fordham last qualified for the NCAA Tournament in the spring of 2021 after winning its fourth A-10 Tournament title. The Rams also appeared in the NCAA field in 1996, 2014, 2016 and 2017. In 2017, Fordham advanced to the tournament's quarterfinals after moving past St. Francis Brooklyn, Viriginia and Duke.
This fall, the Rams advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament for the eighth time in the past 11 seasons before falling to eventual league champion and no. 5 national seed Dayton.
Daniel D'Ippolito earned A-10 Midfielder of the Year honors after logging 13 goals and seven assists for 33 points, a total that is tied for third nationally. His 13 goals are the most by a Fordham player since John Wolyniec scored a school-record 25 times in 1998 before being taken seventh overall in the 1999 MLS College Draft.
