Mitchell Releases 2023-24 Non-Conference Schedule

First-year Fordham coach announces 11-game non-league slate

BRONX, N.Y. – Entering her first season at the helm of the Fordham women's basketball program, Head Coach Bridgette Mitchell has announced her team's non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 campaign.

Mitchell, the 2023 CAA Coach of the Year at Northeastern, will lead the Rams into 11 non-conference matchups against strong competition beginning on Nov. 6 when they host Adelphi.  The game will be part of a season-opening doubleheader with the men's basketball squad inside the historic Rose Hill Gym.

After opening against the Panthers, the Rams will welcome UAlbany to the Bronx on Nov. 10.  Last season, the Great Danes captured a share of the America East Regular Season Championship, going 22-12 overall with a 14-2 mark in conference.  UAlbany earned a bid to the WNIT, where it fell to A-10 Regular Season Champion UMass in the opening round.

Following a quick turnaround, the Rams will play their first road contest of the season when they head to The Sunshine State to face off against Miami on Nov. 12.  The Hurricanes are coming off  their finest season in program history, as they knocked off top-seeded Indiana on their way to their first Elite Eight appearance before losing to eventual national champion LSU.

The Rams will return to action on Nov. 16 in the latest edition of The Battle of the Bronx, as the Manhattan Jaspers will visit Rose Hill for their annual clash.  Fordham claimed last year's cross-borough battle, defeating the Jaspers, 65-55, in Draddy Gymnasium behind 22 points and seven assists from Asiah Dingle.  The Jaspers are coming off a dramatic postseason run that saw them become the first no. 6 seed to advance to the championship game of the MAAC Tournament.

The Battle of the Bronx will begin a five-game Fordham homestand.  The Rams will welcome Georgian Court on Nov. 20 before playing host to UMass Lowell five days later.  Fordham will then entertain Saint Peter's on Nov. 28 followed by the University of Maine on Dec. 2.  After a grueling non-conference schedule a season ago, the Black Bears went 11-4 in league action to finish third in the America East.

The Rams will close out non-league action with three consecutive road tilts beginning with a trip to Siena on Dec. 7.  The Saints finished the 2022-23 season with a record of 19-13 before falling to top-seeded Iona by a single point, 67-66, in the MAAC Semifinals.

Looking to avenge an overtime loss last season in the Rose Hill Gym, Fordham will make a return trip to Fairfield on Dec. 10.

The Rams will close out non-conference action with their second trip of the year to an ACC foe, traveling to Charlottesville for a Dec. 21 matchup against the Virginia Cavaliers.  Last season, the Cavaliers went undefeated in the non-league portion of their schedule and went 11-5 overall at home.

Season ticket deposits for the 2023-24 women's basketball campaign are now being accepted.

Tip times and television destinations for all games will be announced at a later date.
