ITA Release
Bronx, N.Y. – The awards keep rolling in for the 2022-2023 Fordham women's squad as it was named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association ("ITA") on Monday.
Additionally, five members of the team were named ITA Scholar-Athletes: graduate students
Valeriya Deminova and
Carlota Casasampere Escoda; junior
Eleni Fasoula; sophomore Larraine Bergmann; and freshman
Sofie Siem.
The Rams capped the 2022-2023 season by winning their first Atlantic 10 title and earning the team's first trip to the NCAA Championship. Head coach
Michael Sowter was named the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year while Deminova was named the conference's co-Performer of the Year.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
- Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
- All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
