Gerard Smith Obituary
 

BRONX, N.Y. – Fordham University Athletics mourns the loss of men's basketball Hall of Famer Gerard Smith, FCRH '50, who passed away on Monday. He was 96.
 
Smith was the first Ram, and fourth Metropolitan player, to record 1,000 career points, doing it in only three years (1946-1949). A 1948-1949 team captain, Smith closed out his career with 1,077 points, currently 27^th on the Fordham all-time scoring list, and was inducted into the Fordham Athletics Hall of Fame in 1981.
