Carlota Casasampere Escoda (Barcelona, Spain/IES Valles (Long Beach)) was named Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Performer of the Week for the week ending April 23 it was announced by the league office today.
In two matches on the week, Casasampere Escoda was a perfect 4-0 in combined singles and doubles action, playing at fourth and fifth singles and third doubles, losing just five singles games in four sets. In a 4-0 win over George Washington on Saturday, she defeated Lindsay Thompson at fifth singles, 6-1, 6-3, and teamed with
Rachelle Yang at third doubles
for a 6-1 win over Thompson and Sarah Bodewes.
In the second match of the week, a 4-0 victory at George Mason, Casasampere Escoda upended Jackie Nannery in straight sets at fourth singles, 6-1, 6-0, and again paired with
Yang for a 6-3 win over Nannery/Lauren Splett at third doubles.
The Rams, seeded second, open play at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championship on Friday, April 28 against the winner of #7 Rhode Island and #10 Duquesne at 11:30 a.m. at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
