Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis team picked up its first win of the spring season with a 4-3 win over Fairfield University at the Cary Leeds Tennis Center.
 
"It was a great win for the team,' said head coach David Slater. "Every player gave their maximum effort from top of the line-up, to the bottom. For our three singles wins to come from our numbers 4-6 players, which included two freshman, shows the depth and talent on this team. And for Sampras to win his match in such dramatic fashion after saving a match point was a great way to secure the win for the team."
 
The Rams took the doubles point but dropped the first three singles matches. The match came down to sixth singles where freshman Sampras Rakotandrainibe lost the first set to Stefan Mitrovic, 6-3, but came back to take the second, 6-1, and the third in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7).
