Bronx, N.Y. – (February 23, 2023) – The Fordham baseball team is back on the field this weekend, as the Rams head to Norfolk, Virginia, for a three-game series at Old Dominion.
The Rams (0-3) look to rebound after getting swept by Dallas Baptist last weekend. This is Fordham's first visit to Old Dominion since 2010.
Old Dominion has won four straight contests after dropping its season opener with their last win coming on Wednesday at William & Mary by a 4-3 score in 10 innings.

SERIES HISTORY: Fordham and Old Dominion have split the previous six meetings, each via series sweep. The Rams swept a three-game series in 2005, while Old Dominion returned the favor in 2010.
OPPONENT OUTLOOK: Old Dominion is 4-1 on the young season, after taking two games from St. John's last weekend and posting mid-week wins over VMI and William & Mary. The bats have shown up early for the Monarchs, batting .302 with 12 home runs as a team through five games. Jake Ticer leads the way, hitting .471 with nine runs scored, five home runs, and 11 RBI. On the mound, Robert Cook has looked good in two appearances, going 1-0 with a save and nine strikeouts in five innings of work.
FORDHAM PICKED NINTH IN A-10 PRESEASON COACHES POLL (2/7): The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its preseason baseball coaches' poll for the 2023 season with the Fordham Rams picked ninth in the 12-team poll.
Davidson, the defending regular season champion, earned the top spot with five first place votes, followed by VCU, the two-time defending tournament champion, Richmond, and Saint Louis. Dayton was picked fifth with the remainder of the order being Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's George Mason, Fordham, George Washington, Massachusetts, and St. Bonaventure.
HELLO, MY NAME IS…: One of the big storylines for Fordham this season is the influx of new talent, as the Rams welcome 17 new players in 2023, which includes seven transfers, five of which are graduate student transfers. Among the newcomers, the Rams are looking forward to seeing
Peter DeMaria in the line-up a graduate transfer from Tufts University, a three-time NESCAC All-Conference selection and a 2022 ABCA/Rawling First Team All-Region selection. In his opening set of games, DeMaria hit .300 with a double. Another newcomer to have a good opening weekend was infielder
Daniel Bucciero, collecting three hits in five at bats with two doubles and two RBI.
WHO'S NEXT: The Rams' next game will be on Wednesday, March 1
st, as Fordham opens its home schedule against Fairleigh Dickinson at Houlihan Park, beginning at 3:00 PM. Fordham then heads to North Florida for a three-game series, March 3-5.
