CSC Release
Bronx, N.Y. – College Sports Communicators, formerly known as CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), has announced the 2023 Academic All-District teams and four Fordham women's basketball student-athletes earned the distinction -
Kaitlyn Downey,
Megan Jonassen,
Sarah Karpell, and
Colleen McQuillen all earned the distinction for the first time in their careers.
Â
The CSC has instituted a new format for Academic All-District awards beginning this year. Student-athletes that maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA or better and play in at least half of a team's contests are eligible for the honor, with a maximum of four student-athletes per program, a number that Fordham produced.
Â
Downey was already a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Academic selection previously but it is a first academic honor for the others. Each of the last two seasons,
Anna DeWolfe earned a place on the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams.
Â
Voting now begins for Academic All-American teams and runs until next Tuesday, February 28. Teams will be announced in Mid-March.
Â
The Rams host Rhode Island in their regular season home finale on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. on SNY, ESPN+, and WFUV.
