Swimming & Diving Pulls Off Fifth Dual Meet Sweep

Rams Improve to 5-0 for the Men and Women with Wins Over Bryant

Bronx, N.Y. – (November 11, 2023) – Already off to an incredible start to the season, the Fordham swimming & diving team improved to 5-0 in dual meet action, as the Rams swept Bryant at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center on Saturday.
 
The Fordham men earned a 185-113 win over the Bulldogs, while the women rolled to a 193-105 win.
 
On the men's side, Fordham posted four season-best times, led by graduate student Guy Gropper.  Gropper won the 50 freestyle in a season-best time of 20.65 seconds, while doing the same in the 100 butterfly in 49.63 seconds.  Gropper was also a part of the 200 freestyle relay with Christian Taylor, Noah Althoff, and Alex Wilhelm, which posted a winning and season-best time of 1:23.76.
 
Taylor also won two events on the day, registering the top time in the 100 backstroke (season-best – 49.83) and 200 backstroke (1:52.99).  He also led off the winning 200 medley relay with Kevin Zahariev, Vitalis Onu, and Alexander Shah, which clocked in at 1:31.93.
 
Other winners were led by Daniel Langlois, who grabbed first in both the 100 breaststroke (58.36) and the 400 individual medley (4:12.68).  Additional event wins came from Wojciech Dutkowiak in the 200 freestyle (1:43.31), Onu in the 100 freestyle (47.26), and Althoff in the 200 breaststroke (2:07.55).
 
For the women, Emma Shaughnessy, Manon Compagner, and Jane Brown each had two individual events wins and a relay win.  The trio of swimmers started with a win in the 200 medley relay with Jessica Zebrowski, posting a season-best time of 1:43.80.
 
Shaughnessy then won both breaststroke events with a season-best time of 1:03.49 in the 100 and a time of 2:19.43 in the 200.  Brown grabbed the top spot in both backstroke events, clocking in at 56.97 (100) and 2:06.10 (200).  Compagner won the 100 freestyle in 52.03 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 56.65 seconds.
 
Fordham had a final dual event winner in Mya Bokerman, who captured first in both diving events with scores of 246.38 (1M) and 269.40 (3M).
 
Other event winners were Emilie Krog in the 200 freestyle (1:55.39), Zebrowski in the 50 freestyle (24.19), Leire Martin in the 400 individual medley (4:26.56), and the 200 freestyle relay team of Compagner, Zoei Howard, Hope Nolan, and Zebrowski (1:37.52 – season-best).
 
The Rams will next be in action at the Bucknell Invitational, December 1-3.
