Women’s Soccer Falls on the Road to VCU

Richmond, Va. – (October 19, 2023) – VCU scored three times in the opening 24 minutes of play, which included two goals by Isabella Cahall, as VCU took a 3-1 decision over the Fordham Rams at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond.
 
With the win, VCU improved to 5-8-3 overall, 4-4-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Fordham fell to 4-9-4 on the year, 2-4-3 in the league.
 
VCU opened the scoring in the sixth minute, as Anna Bagley put a cross from the endline back to the center of the box.  Milica Bulatovic received the cross and fired home a shot into the upper right corner for her fourth goal of the season.
 
They made it 2-0 VCU in the 19th minute on a set piece play.  Kendyl Sarver put the free kick into the box, which was headed down by Lindsey Munyak right to Isabella Cahall for the goal from six yards out.  It was Cahall's first goal of the season.
 
Cahall added her second goal of the season in the 24th minute, as Bagley's cross deflected off Fordham goalkeeper Serena Mensah right to Cahall, who put it into the open net.
 
Fordham broke up the clean sheet in the 85th minute for the 3-1 final.  Carmen Hardwick put a crossing ball from the sideline toward the top of the box to Lena Johnsen.  Johnsen then chipped a shot from 20 yards out over the VCU keeper for her fourth goal of the season.
 
VCU finished the game with a 22-5 shot advantage, as Mensah and Kyla King combined for nine saves for Fordham.
 
Fordham will conclude the regular season on Sunday, October 22nd, as the Rams host Massachusetts for a 1:30 PM start at Moglia Stadium.
