Rams ink five to Letters of Intent

Bronx, N.Y – Fordham University director of tennis/head women's tennis coach Michael Sowter announced the signing of five student-athletes to letters of intent for the 2023-2024 season. Joining the Rams this fall will be freshmen Julianne Nguyen (San Gabriel, Calif./, Ontario), Anlin Xie (Markham, Ontario), and Xintong "Cindy" Zhou (Mississauga, Ontario), along with transfers Camila Baeza (Monterrey, Nuevo Leon/Bryant) and Xiaowei "Rose" Hu (Beijing, China/Indiana University).
 
Julianne Nguyen
• A highly-touted four-star recruit from San Gabriel, California.
• Has been ranked as high as #78 nationally by TennisRecruiting.net.
• Has a Universal Tennis Rating of 9.02, and recently helped San Marino High School capture the CIF Open Team Championship.
• Swept third singles for San Marino at the CIF Championship tournament.
 
 
Anlin Xie
• A Markham, Ontario, native.
• Will arrive at Fordham with a career high ITF Junior Ranking of #562, WTA Doubles Ranking of #1456, ITF Women's Ranking of #985, Canada Junior Ranking of #20, and a Universal Tennis Rating of 9.04.
• Trains with Mayfair Tennis Clubs in Ontario.
• Placed fourth at the U16 Ontario Provincial Championships and was a doubles finalist at the J3 Cancun tournament.
 
 
Xintong "Cindy" Zhou
• A top prospect out of Mississauga, Ontario.
• Trains at the Tipsarevic Tennis Academy in Belgrade.
• Has been ranked as high as #302 in ITF Junior Rankings, #9 in Canada Junior Rankings, and has a career high Universal Tennis Rating of 9.81.
• A strong competitor on the ITF junior tour
• A singles finalist at ITF events in J3 San Jose, J4 Santa Tecla and a doubles finalist at the J3 Santo Domingo tournament. 
 
 
Xiaowei "Rose" Hu
• A transfer from Indiana University.
Posted a 13-14 record in singles for the season with seven wins in dual matches at Indiana in 2021-2022 with nine doubles wins.
•Finished the season with a 10-10 record in singles matches in 2019-2020.
• Trained at the Weil Tennis Academy and Preparatory School in Ojai, California before starting her career at Indiana and has a career-high ITF Junior Ranking of #286.
• Has two career ITF junior Grade 5 singles championships and three career ITF junior doubles championships and one runner-up finish.
• A four-time ITA Summer Circuit singles semi-finalist and two-time doubles champion.
 
 
Camila Baeza
• A transfer from Bryant University.
• Member of the Bryant women's team that won the 2022 NEC Championships.
• Posted a 10-6 singles record, 9-5 in dual matches, at Bryant in 2021-22
• Went 10-4 in doubles play in 2021-22, teaming with Manuela Gomez Estrada to win two doubles matches in the NEC Tournament.
• Went 3-2 in singles and 0-1 in doubles play in 2020-21 with a 2-1 singles record vs NEC foes.
• Named to the 2020-21 NEC Academic Honor Roll.
• Played first year at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, where she posted a 6-1 record in singles and a 2-0 record in doubles.
• Ranked in juniors as high as #7 nationally in Mexico.
