Bronx, N.Y. – (March 17, 2022) – The Fordham baseball team continues its homestand this weekend, as the Rams will host the Marist Red Foxes for a three-game series at Houlihan Park. This is a slight change in the schedule, as the Saturday game was originally slated to be played in Poughkeepsie, but all three games will now get played in the Bronx.
Fordham (2-12) will look shake off a difficult game against Wagner on Wednesday, which extended the team's losing streak to six games. Marist (6-6) enters the weekend off a loss to Yale on Tuesday, but did take two of three games at Navy last weekend.

SERIES HISTORY: The Rams and Red Foxes have only met seven times since the first meeting in 2000 with Marist holding a 6-1 lead in the series. The two teams have not met since 2014, when Marist shut out Fordham, 9-0. Fordham's lone win in the series came in 2007.
LAST TIME OUT: Wagner's Mike Ruggiero scored four runs and was one of four Seahawks to register a home run on Wednesday, as Wagner won a slugfest over the Fordham Rams, 19-11, at Houlihan Park.
Wagner got out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning, as Mateo Matthews hit a two-run home run to left, his first of the season. Fordham answered immediately, tying the game at two in the bottom of the frame. With two on and one out,
Andy Semo singled to right field to score
Jake Guercio, while
Sebastian Mexico hit a sacrifice fly to left to score
Jason Coules.
The Seahawks regained the lead in the second with three runs, highlighted by a two-run double by Lukas Torres. The Rams cut the deficit to 5-4 in the fourth inning, as Mexico led off with a double, and was followed by RBI-doubles by
Zach Selinger and
T.J. Wachter.
The game then went into overdrive in the sixth inning with Wagner sending 13 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs, while Fordham sent 10 to the dish, netting six runs for a 14-10 score. For the Rams,
Nico Boza registered a two-run double with
Jack Harnisch having a three-run double to highlight the scoring.
The Rams inched closer at 14-11 in the seventh inning, as Mexico walked, advanced to third on two wild pitches, and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Michael Taylor. Wagner though put an end to the Rams' comeback, getting a three-run home run in the eighth from David Melfi and solo home runs by Dante Faicchio and Mike Ruggiero in the ninth for the 19-11 final.
For the Rams, Mexico finished 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored, and an RBI, while Harnisch drove in three runs.
HOULIHAN PARK TO HOST 2022 ATLANTIC 10 CHAMPIONSHIP: For the fifth time, Fordham University's Houlihan Park will play host to the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2022. The Championship will take place May 24-28. Previously, Houlihan Park hosted the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2006, 2012, 2016, and 2019. The Rams hope to repeat the most recent result in 2019, when Fordham captured the league crown for the first time since 1998.
