Volleyball Readies for Two Matches at Davidson

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham volleyball (9-11, 3-6) returns to the road for this weekend's matches at Davidson (14-6, 8-1), starting at 6 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday, the latter of which will be streamed on ESPN+. All relevant links can be found above.  
 
Ramses Challenge
Join the Ramses Challenge, a new philanthropic initiative supporting our student-athletes! Pledge a set amount of money for each set won by Fordham volleyball this year, or make a one-time gift to the program. All proceeds are tax-deductible and go directly to Fordham volleyball. The Rams won 46 sets last year and are up to 36 so far through 20 matches!

Last Time Out
Fordham split two matches at George Washington last weekend, falling in straight sets on Friday before rebounding in style with a four-set win on Saturday. Read about the victory here and watch highlights here.
 
Series History
The Wildcats lead the all-time series, 8-3, since they joined the Atlantic 10 in 2014. Last year, Davidson won both matches, home and away, with the Rams taking one set on the road. Fordham is 0-5 all-time at Belk Arena.
 
National and A-10 Ranks
The Rams rank within the top-five in the A-10 in attacks per set (1^st – 36.97), which sits 23^rd nationally, digs per set (3^rd – 15.38), hit percentage (3^rd - .202), aces per set (4^th – 1.51), kills per set (5^th – 12.38), and assists per set (5^th – 11.42).
 
At the individual level, Whitley Moody leads the conference in total points (332) and kills (284) and is second in points per set (4.20) and kills per set (3.59). She is also seventh with 0.39 aces per set. Nationally, Moody is 27^th in attacks per set (11.24) and 21^st in total attacks (854). Mallory Lipski is third in the league with 4.58 digs per set, 46^th in the country, while Chloe Pejouan is fourth in-conference and 77^th nationally with 1.17 blocks per set.
 
Climbing the Program Ranks
Mallory Lipski broke the program three-set record for digs at Loyola Chicago on October 1^st, with 25, and continues her climb up the all-time ranks, now sixth with 1,192 total career digs, while her 3.80 career rate is second to only former teammate Morgan Williams. Whitley Moody is tops in program history with 3.57 kills per set, nearly .2 more than Olivia Fairchild's record-setting mark. Megan Brzozowski is eighth with 2,519 assists and ninth with 7.82 dimes per set. Chloe Pejouan is very close to joining the top-10s for all the total block categories but her 1.30 per-set average is second all-time only to former teammate Izzy Fichtel.
 
Audrey Brown Named A-10 Rookie of the Week Again
The freshman outside hitter became the fifth Ram to earn multiple Rookie of the Week awards, doing so twice in the first three weeks of the season. Brown posted back-to-back 14-kill efforts at the UND Classic, hitting a super-efficient .463 on 54 attacks for the weekend, including a mark of .565 in the sweep of North Dakota.
 
Whitley Moody Named A-10 Player of the Week
The junior outside hitter earned her second career Player of the Week honor after leading the Rams to four wins in four days as August turned to September, racking up 54 kills, 35 digs, five blocks, and four aces, averaging 4.32 points per set.
 
USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award
For the third straight year and fourth time in the last five years, the Rams earned a United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic award, holding a 3.3 GPA or above for the entire 2021-22 academic year. 12 student-athletes also saw placement on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, which requires a 3.0 GPA or better for the year.
 
Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll
The league's head coaches voted on the annual preseason poll and Fordham was picked to finish seventh. Dayton was selected to successfully defend its title, garnering eight first-place votes, with VCU getting the other two votes and picked second, followed by newcomers Loyola Chicago in third.
 
Next Up
Fordham plays its final two regular season road contests next weekend at Duquesne at 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, respectively, before returning to the Bronx for five straight home matches.
