League Release

Newport News, Va. – Fordham volleyball's junior standout Whitley Moody has been named the Atlantic 10's Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. It is her second time earning the distinction in her career.

Moody, a three-time Rookie of the Week, was named Player of the Week exactly one year ago for the first time. This time around, the junior outside hitter led the Rams to a 4-0 week, with wins at St. Francis Brooklyn and a sweep of the Rose Hill Classic, including Fairleigh Dickinson, Niagara, and Penn. Moody led the offense with a total of 54 kills, averaging 3.86 per set, while hitting .203. She added 35 digs, including 14 against FDU, five blocks, and four aces. All told, she averaged 4.32 points per frame.

Through six matches and 24 sets, the San Jose native leads the Atlantic 10 in kills per set (4.04) and points per set (4.73). She is currently tops in program history with a career 3.65 kills-per-set rate, with Olivia Fairchild's 3.39 the closest to her. The Rams currently lead the A-10 in kills (320), kills per set (13.33), and hit percentage (.252).

Fordham is back in action this weekend at North Dakota's UND Classic. Up first is Friday evening's match against Montana State at 6 p.m.
