Ram student-athletes receive DEI training

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham Athletics announced today that it is forming a partnership for the 2022-2023 academic year with Dedication to Community (D2C), a national non-profit that educates and empowers communities on diversity, belonging, and equity. This program will help all Fordham student-athletes and athletic staff create and implement an extensive awareness and action program.

Fordham student-athletes at DEI training with D2CFordham Athletics first aligned with D2C last spring when D2C led one-hour sessions for all the student-athletes. Based on overwhelming positive survey responses, the Rams brought the organization back to Rose Hill this year. The 2022-2023 sessions will serve as an extension and deeper dive into the content from the spring and focus on reconciliation, healing, and unity.

"We are thrilled to welcome D2C back to Rose Hill,´ said director of athletics Ed Kull. "Their mission of unity and reconciliation is needed now more than ever and we are committed to creating and sustaining a more inclusive and welcoming environment for the entire Fordham Athletics community."

The interactive program started last week when D2C CEO and founder M. Quentin Williams and Cory McGookin, D2C vice president for law enforcement relations, facilitated 90-minute sessions for the winter and spring teams, including men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's swimming & diving, rowing, men's tennis, squash, golf, and men's and women's track and field/cross country. All other teams will complete their training in the spring 2023 semester.

D2C's growing college presence over the years has included dozens of institutions of higher education, including Harvard University, Boston College, University of Maryland College Park, Seton Hall University, University of North Carolina Charlotte, St. John's University School of Law and several Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This is the first time that D2C's extensive program is being offered at Fordham.
