Bronx, N.Y. – (January 25, 2022) – Fordham head coach
Carlo Acquista announced the addition of three transfers, as
Daniel Espeleta (Athens, Ga./Apex Learning (Creighton)),
Jackson Soules (New York, N.Y./NYC Lab (Ohio State), and
Paolo Primavera (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Chaminade (Columbia)) will join the Rams this spring.
"We are excited to add three attacking players mid-year to our roster," said Acquista. "It's important to keep our local homegrown talented players in The Bronx, and Jackson and Paolo fit that profile, while Daniel brings a wealth of NCAA experience competing in the Big East the last four years."
Espeleta is a graduate transfer from Creighton, who helped the Bluejays to the second round of the NCAA Tournament this past fall. A 5-9 midfielder, he appeared in 62 games, starting 39 and recording five goals and three assists. He also earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District VII team in each of the last three seasons, as he majored in Neuroscience. Prior to Creighton, he took part in the U17 Costa Rican National Team Camp and played for Uruguay FC in Costa Rica.
Soules, a 6-1 midfielder/forward, attended Ohio State last year, after being a four-year member of the varsity soccer team at NYC Lab High School in New York. A two-year captain for NYC Lab, he finished as the school's assists leader and was the Team MVP as a senior. For club, he was a part of the Manhattan Soccer Club, helping them to three State Cup championship, while also being a four-time NYS ODP selection. In the classroom, Soules was an NYC Public Advocate Award winner.
Primavera, a 5-9 forward, attended Columbia this past fall and joins his brother, Nicolino, at Fordham. Before Columbia, he played four seasons at Academy Soccer and was a
TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 100 player for his final two seasons in 2020 and 2021. He was also a nationally ranked goal scorer in the USSDA, finishing seventh in 2019 and 10
th the prior year. For club, he was also a part of the Manhattan Soccer Club, while in the classroom, Primavera was a member of the National Honor Society and recipient of the Honor Character Award.
