Bronx, N.Y. – (September 29, 2021) – It's another loaded week for the Fordham Rams, as the team hits the heart of the Atlantic 10 women's soccer schedule.  The Rams start the week on Thursday night, as they have their PRIDE game against Davidson, while on Sunday, it will be the "Battle of the Rams" at Rhode Island.  For Thursday, the first 150 students in attendance will receive free sunglasses.

Fordham (2-7-2, 0-2-1 A10) had a tough go last week in league action, falling to Richmond (2-0) and to St. Bonaventure (2-1), but look to get back on track against Davidson and Rhode Island.

Davidson (4-6-1, 0-3 A10) has also had a rough beginning to conference play, having been shut out the first three league games against Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's, and Dayton.  The Wildcats have three players with two goals each to lead the way offensively in Aleia Gisolfi-McCready, Emma Nguyen, and Riley Patton.  In net, Mary Grace Bunch has appeared in all 11 games, posting a 0.88 GAA and 33 saves.

Rhode Island (3-4-2, 2-0-1 A10) has points in each of its three Atlantic 10 games, picking up victories over Davidson (1-0) and George Washington (2-0), while playing to a 1-1 draw with Massachusetts in its most recent game.  URI has spread the wealth offensively with seven goals by six different players, while Faith Hutchins has been the constant in net, playing every minute this season, allowing a 0.95 GAA with 39 saves.

LAST TIME OUT: Sunday afternoon's women's soccer match between Fordham and St. Bonaventure was going in the Rams' direction with a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes of action.  However, a red card issued to Fordham in the 41
st minute changed the game, as the Bonnies scored twice in the second half with the extra player to take the 2-1 decision at Jack Coffey Field.

Fordham got on the scoreboard in the 28
th minute off a set piece.
Kristen Cocozza placed a corner kick right in the middle of the box for a header by
Kendall Dandridge into the top half of the net for her first goal of the season.
The match then changed course in the 41st minute, as a Ram was red carded, forcing Fordham to play down a player for the remainder of regulation.  Fordham was able to keep the game at 1-0 until the 71st minute, when St. Bonaventure tied it up at one.  Cristina Torres took a shot that was blocked but the rebound came right back to her, and she placed it into the right side of the goal for her sixth of the season.

Ten minutes later, the Bonnies netted the go-ahead goal as the ball was misplayed in the box with Alexa Martinos knocking the ball into an open net for her first marker of the year.

The Martinos' goal held up as St. Bonaventure closed out the 2-1 win with goalkeeper Chiara Gottinger finishing with four saves.  Fordham goalkeeper
Serena Mensah ended the match with two saves for the Rams.
