Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rams Fall to Bonnies, 2-1

Kendall Dandridge Nets Goal for Rams

Bronx, N.Y. – (September 26, 2021) – Sunday afternoon's women's soccer match between Fordham and St. Bonaventure was going in the Rams' direction with a 1-0 lead after 40 minutes of action.  However, a red card issue to Fordham in the 41st minute changed the game, as the Bonnies scored twice in the second half with the extra player to take the 2-1 decision at Jack Coffey Field.

Fordham (2-7-2, 0-2-1 A10) got on the scoreboard in the 28th minute off a set piece.  Kristen Cocozza placed a corner kick right in the middle of the box for a header by Kendall Dandridge into the top half of the net for her first goal of the season.

The match then changed course in the 41st minute, as Schae Groton was red carded for a hard tackle, forcing the Rams to play down a player for the remainder of regulation.
... and scores! 1-0 Rams!
The Rams celebrate after Dandridge's goal.

Fordham was able to keep the game at 1-0 until the 71st minute, when St. Bonaventure tied it up at one.  Cristina Torres took a shot that was blocked but the rebound came right back to her, and she placed it into the right side of the goal for her sixth of the season.

Ten minutes later, the Bonnies netted the go-ahead goal as the ball was misplayed in the box with Alexa Martinos knocking the ball into an open net for her first marker of the year.

The Martinos' goal held up as St. Bonaventure closed out the 2-1 win with goalkeeper Chiara Gottinger finishing with four saves.  Fordham goalkeeper Serena Mensah ended the match with two saves for the Rams.

Fordham will next be in action on Thursday, September 30th, as the team hosts Davidson for a 7:00 PM match at Jack Coffey Field.
