Rams Take Home Win Over Davidson on PRIDE Night

Fordham’s Milan Bornstein Nets Lone Goal of the Contest, while Serena Mensah Records First Career Shutout

Bronx, N.Y. – (September 30, 2021) – Everything came into alignment on Thursday for the Fordham Rams for their PRIDE Night women's soccer match, celebrating inclusivity, safe environments, and respect.  Solid defensive play, a first half goal by Milan Bornstein, and a couple of key stops by Serena Mensah added up to a 1-0 win for the Rams over the Wildcats.

Fordham (3-7-2, 1-2-1 A10) scored the lone goal of the contest in the 16th minute, as the ball deflected off a Davidson player to just outside the box.  Kendall Dandridge got to the ball and placed a perfect cross to an unmarked Milan Bornstein for the header goal to the right side of the net from eight yards out.  It was Bornstein's third goal of the season.

The Rams then locked down Davidson (4-7-1, 0-4 A10) on the defensive end, limiting the Wildcats to six shots in the match three of which were on goal.

Fordham goalkeeper Serena Mensah made all three stops, including two spectacular saves.  The first came on a shot by Kendall Bushick in the 21st minute, that looked like it was heading under the crossbar, but Mensah punched the ball over the net to keep the game at 1-0.

Then in the 85th minute, Aleia Gisolfi-McCready laid a cross to Hannah Casey right at the top of the six-yard box for the deflection shot, but Mensah made a diving grab to left post before the ball crossed the line to secure the 1-0 win.

With the three saves, Mensah recorded not only her first career win, but also her first career shutout.

Fordham will next be in action on Sunday, October 3rd, when the squad travels to Rhode Island for a 2:00 PM start.
