Binghamton, N.Y. – (August 22, 2021) – The Fordham Rams looked for a bounce back match on Sunday following a season opening loss on Thursday. Unfortunately for the Rams, the Bearcats scored twice in the second half, while getting eight saves from Haylee Poltorak for a 2-0 decision at the Bearcat Sports Complex.
The game was scoreless through the first half, courtesy of some excellent goalkeeper play by Fordham's
Maggie Grossman and Binghamton's Haylee Poltorak. Poltorak was credited with four saves in the half, which included three stops on
Kendall Dandridge.

First in the 11
th minute, Dandridge received a pass at the penalty spot for shot to the low left side that Poltorak grabbed. Then in the 19
th and 20
th minutes, Dandridge had a shot from distance to the left post and then a turnaround shot in the center of the box, but both were hauled in by Poltorak.
On the other side, Grossman was also up to the task keeping the Bearcats at bay. She made a slide tackle to knock away a potential one-on-one shot by Olivia McKnight, while in the 44
th minute, she had a save on a Lexi Vegoda shot from 18 yards.
The Rams then had a golden chance at the start of the second half on a set piece after a foul.
Alexandra Taylor put a long ball into the box, which found Dandridge at the six-yard box for a point blank shot that Poltorak was able to block the ball away.
The Bearcats were able to break the stalemate in the 58
th minute, as Stefania Piantadosi put a long cross in from the near side to the far post just over the outstretched arms of Grossman. Maya Anand got a head on it to sneak it into the goal for the opening goal of the game.
Binghamton then made it 2-0 in the 77
th minute, as Piantadosi set up McKnight for a run and shot inside the left post for her first goal of the year.
The Rams were unable to figure out Poltorak, as the Bearcat netminder finished with eight saves in the contest for the shutout.
Grossman ended the match with three saves for Fordham with Dandridge having a team-high five shots.
Fordham is back in action on Thursday, August 26
th, for the Battle of the Bronx with Manhattan.
