Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis squad won its third match in a row on Saturday with a 4-3 win over Quinnipiac on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
The Rams opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning two of the three matches.
Eleni Fasoula and
Nicole Li got it started with a 6-1 win over Quinnipiac's Payton Bradley and Madison Williams at second doubles and
Arina Taluyenko and
Maia Balce clinched the point for Fordham with a 6-4 win at first doubles over Claire Koscielski and Kamilla Nella.
Fordham then won three of the first four decisions in singles play for the win. After the Bobcats took second singles, Taluyenko gave the Rans a 2-1 lead with a straight set win over Koscielski (6-2, 6-1) at the first position.
Fasoula followed that with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Dominique Vasile at third singles and the Rams secured the win when Li upended Bradley at the fifth spot, 6-4, 6-1.
The Rams, 3-1 in the spring, return to action on Wednesday, April 7, as they travel to Philadelphia to face Drexel University at 2:00 p.m.
