Men’s Tennis Falls to Eastern Florida State

Rams open play at Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday

Melbourne, Fla.  – The Fordham men's tennis squad closed out the 2021 spring dual match season with a 4-2 loss to Eastern Florida State University on Tuesday at the Titan Tennis Center.
 
The Rams, seeded sixth, will open play at the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando. Fordham will face eleventh-seed La Salle at 12:00 p.m.
 
Against Eastern Florida, the Rams opened the match dropping the doubles point, with the point coming down to a tiebreaker at the second position as Alex Makatsaria and Max Green fell to Gonzolo Esteban Ostos and Jaewoo Choi, 7-6 (5). After Lutwin de Macar and Fabian Mauritzson fell to Ramiro Rincon and Tomas Reche at first doubles, 6-4, Tom Russwurm and Jofre Segarra defeated Luc Pasqual Camps and Corentin Venot, 6-4, to make it depend on results from the second spot.
 
Makatsaria evened the match at 1-1 with a 7-5, 6-4, win over Luc Pasqual Camps at third singles and  (EFS) 7-5, 6-4, before the Titans made it 2-1 when Reche defeated Mauritzson at the first position, 6-4, 7-6 (0).
 
Segarra fell to Venot at sixth singles, 0-6, 7-6 (6), 7-5, but Green kept hopes alive for the Rams with a 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 win over Rincon at the second spot.
 
de Macar fought Choi at fourth singles before falling in a tiebreaker in the third set as Eastern Florida clinched the win.
