Men’s Tennis Blanks Queens

Rams depart for Florida on positive note

Queens, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis squad ended the northern part of its schedule on a positive note today with a 7-0 shutout of Queens College at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
 
The Rams will now depart for Florida were they will face Eastern Florida University on Tuesday before beginning play at the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship  on Thursday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
 
The Rams opened the Queens match by winning the doubles point, taking both completed matches by identical 6-4 scores. Alex Makatsaria and Max Green got it started with a second doubles win over Moritz Borges and Tim Ostheimer before Tom Russwurm and Jofre Segarra clinched the point with a win over Omar El Shehawey and Eduardo Marino at the third position.
 
Fordham then took all six singles matches, four in straight sets, for the 7-0 win. Fabian Mauritzson (first singles), Makatsaria (third), Russwurm (fifth), and Segarra (sixth) all won in straight sets while Green (second) and Lutwin de Macar went to a third set to pull out a victory.
