Golf Finishes Day One of the Connecticut Cup Tied for Sixth

Ellington, Conn. – The Fordham golf team began its first multi-round tournament of the year on Thursday at the Connecticut Cup, hosted by the University of Connecticut, held at Ellington Ridge Country Club. The Rams finished the day in a tie with Rider for sixth out of a field of 12 schools, led by sophomore John Kryscio's 2-over performance that has him tied for seventh. Boston College is out in front among the schools, while Hartford's Manuel Romero, competing as an individual, is the individual leader at 1-under.
 
Kryscio carded a 74 on the day with three birdies, finishing 1-under on both four Par 3's and four Par 5's. Tomas Nieves and Andreas Aivazoglou each recorded 5-over 77's for a share of 33^rd, while P.J. O'Rourke, T48 with a 79 and Nicholas Manning, T75 with an 85, rounded out of the quintet. Jimmy Bagdonas competed as an individual and will enter day two tied for 69^th with an 83. O'Rourke led the Rams with 12 pars, right ahead of Kryscio and Nieves, each with 11.
 
Manning will kick things off for Fordham at 11:15 a.m. at the first hole, while Bagdonas will tee off from the 10^th at 11:51 a.m. alongside the leader Romero.
