Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis squad had its first home match of the fall today, defeating Adelphi University, 5-2, on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
Fordham dropped the doubles point, losing two of the tree doubles matches before coming back to win five of the six singles matches for the win.
Rhett Bailey got it started for the Rams with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Adelphia's Luke Attride-Stirling at fifth singles.
Jofre Segarra made it 2-1 for the Rams with a 6-3, 6-3 decision at the third position over Reece Farrow before
Toi Kobayashi put the Rams up 3-1 with a 6-3, 3-6, 4-0 (wr) win over Pietro Sole at fourth singles.
The Panthers took second singles to make it a 3-2 match but the Rams won the final two singles matches for the win.
Juan Paredes cinched the match for Fordham with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-6 (wr) decision over Marko Jovanovic at first singles before
Robert Hagan closed the match with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Thiago Negrao at sixth singles.
The Rams return to action on Friday, October 22, as they open pay at the Marist Invitational.
