Even though the COVID-19 outbreak canceled the 2020 Block F Awards Dinner it will not stop us  from recognizing the outstanding student-athletes from 2019-2020. Instead of gathering in the historic Rose Hill Gym each winner will be honored online, from team MVPs to all the special award winners. We know that it's not the same but we want all the student-athletes to know that we thank you for your hard work and dedication and we are thinking of you and your families.
 
Bronx, N.Y. – We continue with the 2020 Block F Special Awards today as we present the 2020 Iron Major Award to the Fordham Coach of the Year, women's basketball mentor Stephanie Gaitley.
 
The "Iron Major" Award is presented to honor the "Coach of the Year", as selected by his or her fellow coaches.  The award is named for Hall of Fame member and former football coach Frank Cavanaugh, the first in a long line of nationally famous Fordham coaches.
 
Head women's basketball coach Stephanie Gaitley, the 2020 Iron Major award winner, is no stranger to the award, receiving it for the fourth time in her Fordham career. She led a team with no seniors to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 championship, winning 20 games for the fourth straight season and for the seventh time in her nine seasons at Fordham.  She also saw redshirt junior Bre Cavanaugh, a finalist for the 2020 Hobbs Family Award, win the 2020 Atlantic 10 basketball Player of the Year award, a first for a Fordham basketball player.
