Fresno, Calif. – The Fordham softball team dropped its first two contests of this weekend's Fresno State Kick-Off Classic, falling to California, 8-0, in five innings, and, 8-4, against the hosts on Friday night. With the results, the Rams fall to 1-6 overall.
Devon Miller notched the Rams' lone hit of the opening contest, with a single, while
Madie Aughinbaugh nearly went the distance, giving way to
Anne Marie Prentiss in the fifth frame.
Fordham struck quickly in game two on Friday night, pushing across a run in the opening inning.
Madie Aughinbaugh led off with a walk, stole second, and scored on a throwing error trying to gun down
Brianna Pinto at second. The Rams added two runs in the third, one on a RBI triple by
Sarah Taffet, scoring
Michaela Carter, and a Miller RBI single to score Taffet. Miller finished the contest with a season-high seven strikeouts.
Fordham takes on Cal Poly at 2:30 p.m. and Fresno State at 8:30 p.m.
