Newport News, Va – Fordham women's basketball freshman guard
Anna DeWolfe has been named this week's Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. It is the second weekly honor for DeWolfe after garnering the same distinction on November 25.
"Anna stepped up big time against Rhode Island after being sick. She also made some key plays for us on the road against UMass," Head coach
Stephanie Gaitley said, "She is gaining confidence with every game. She is a student of the game and will only get better!"
DeWolfe helped lead the Rams to a pair of conference victories this past week, a 10-point win over Rhode Island at home and a five-point win at Massachusetts on Saturday. Against Rhody, the Cumberland, Maine native scored a team-high 18 points on an efficient 6-of-10 shooting and a perfect 5-of-5 from the line, both career-highs. She added three rebounds, an assist, and a steal over 34 minutes. On Saturday, she played all 40 minutes and scored 12 points with two boards, two assists, and a steal.
For the week, DeWolfe averaged 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steals across 37.0 minutes per contest, while shooting 50.0% from the floor (including 11-of-17 from inside the arc). For the season, DeWolfe is second on the team in scoring, with 12.6 points per game, and leads the Rams among qualified players with a 42.8% field-goal percentage. She is also second with 60 assists and fourth with 19 steals.
The Rams return to action on Thursday night, February 13, against Davidson, with tip-off set for 7 p.m. ESPN+ and WFUV 90.7 FM will have the coverage.
