Women's Basketball Adds Nicole Munger to Staff

Recent Michigan Graduate Named Coordinator of Recruiting and Player Development

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham women's basketball head coach Stephanie Gaitley has announced a third addition to her coaching staff for the upcoming 2019-20 campaign – Nicole Munger as the program's Coordinator for Recruiting and Player Development, replacing Samantha Clark, who stepped down after three seasons with the team. Munger joins assistant coach Candice Green and video coordinator Kerri McMahan, who were hired a month ago.

"We are excited to add Nicole to our staff as our Coordinator of Recruiting and Player Development," Gaitley said, "We recruited her and I was so impressed with her as both a person and a player. I saw her and her mom in Florida at the Gulf Coast Showcase that both of our schools competed in and Nicole told me that she would love to get into coaching. I love her knowledge and energy and really believe Nicole has a great future in the game."

Munger just completed her senior season at the University of Michigan where she appeared in 136 career games out of a possible 139, starting 68 of those contests, including all 67 games the past two seasons. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, she earned All-Conference honorable mention recognition by the coaches and media after averaging just over 10 points per game across a team-high 31.2 minutes, finishing her career as the Wolverine's 28th 1,000-point scorer. She was also named to the All-Tournament squad at the Gulf Coast Showcase, which Fordham also competed and were finalists in.

The Wolverines secured postseason berths in all four years with Munger on the team, reaching the WNIT semifinals her first season, winning the WNIT three seasons ago, and reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament each of the past two years. Michigan's season ended in late March against #1 seed Louisville, who lost to Connecticut in the Elite 8.

The Rams are coming off a historic 2018-19 season that saw the program's second-ever Atlantic 10 championship and a share of its first-ever regular season title. Fordham coasted to the conference crown by an average margin of victory of just under 23 points across three games in Pittsburgh before falling to #12 Syracuse in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Fordham's 13 conference wins were a new program record and last year's squad tied a school record with 12 straight wins, up and through the A-10 Tournament, and a new record of nine consecutive league victories.
