Milwaukee, Wisconsin – (June 13, 2019) – Just a week after his teammates
Kyle Martin and
Anthony Zimmerman got the call from an MLB team to start the next part of their baseball careers, Fordham starting pitcher
Anthony DiMeglio (Darien, Conn./Darien) now received his call, as he has signed a free agent contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.
With DiMeglio's signing, Fordham baseball has now had eight pitchers join an MLB organization, either through the draft or as a free agent over the last five seasons.
DiMeglio was once again among the Rams' starting rotation in 2019. After leading the team in strikeouts and wins as a junior, he had 17 appearances as a senior, making 13 starts, and earned Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week honors once during the year. He went 6-4 with a 3.38 ERA and 64 strikeouts over 66.2 innings, helping Fordham win the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998.
For his career, DiMeglio became the ninth pitcher to reach 200 strikeouts, finishing his career in a tie for fifth all-time with 212, while finishing tenth in career appearances (68). He also posted 17 wins over 201.2 innings pitched and held opponents to a .234 batting average.
