Women's Basketball Announces Two Staff Additions

Candice Green Named Assistant Coach, Kerri McMahan Named Video Coordinator

Bronx, N.Y. – Head coach Stephanie Gaitley and the Fordham women's basketball program have today announced the hiring of Candice Green as an assistant coach and Kerri McMahan as the team's video coordinator. The pair replace Angelika Szumilo, who left to become the head coach at Fairleigh Dickinson, and Chris Scerbo, who left to attend Seton Hall Law School in the Fall.

Green, a 2012 graduate at the school, has spent the past three years as an assistant coach under Bill Cleary at Colgate. Before that, she spent one year as the program's Director of Operations. A two-year team captain, Green played in 111 career games for the Raiders, making 91 starts, and reached the program's all-time top-10s with 271 career assists and 93 career three-pointers. A native of East Brunswick, N.J., she graduated with a degree in neuroscience.

"Obviously there are big shoes to fill with Ang going to FDU, so I knew this would be a very important hire," Gaitley said, "I met Candice during some of our recruiting stops and was always impressed with her energy and positive attitude. She had a great career at Colgate as a player and coach. She has a great pedigree as a coach as her dad, Tiny, is a legend at Hoop Group in New Jersey. She has a great future in our game and is a terrific addition to our program."

McMahan should be a familiar to face to the Fordham faithful after playing three seasons at Atlantic 10 rival Saint Louis under Lisa Stone. McMahan was named this past season's conference Defensive Player of the Year award after leading the Billikens defense to just 60.8 points per game allowed, the program's lowest total in six years. She was also named to the All-Academic team, graduating with a 3.79 overall GPA and earning her Master's degree with a 3.92 GPA. McMahan helped with the women's basketball team's social media initiatives and served as an intern with the greater athletics department.

"Kerri was the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year at Saint Louis last year and has a great future as a coach. She comes from a great program and her knowledge of the game and her youth will be great assets to our team. I'm excited to see her grow in our game!"
