Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis squad hosted Yeshiva tonight on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts and shut out the Maccabees, 7-0.
The Rams opened the match winning all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Fabian Mauritzson and
Allen Thornes took first doubles from Aaron Cohen and Lior Brik, 6-4, and
Steven Duka and
Jofre Segarra defeated Ezra Rudansky and Mikey Ozery at the second position, 6-2.
Jeremy Chung and
Gabriel Mashaal completed the sweep with a 7-5 victory over Amram Wahnon and Yoni Sacknovitz at third doubles.
Fordham then won all six singles matches in straight sets for the 7-0 victory. Mauritzson took care of Ozery at first singles, 6-1 and 6-2, while Chung upended Cohen at the second spot, 6-2 and 6-3, and Thornes defeated Brik at third singles, 6-2 and 6-2.
Jofre Segarra took fourth singles for the Rams with a 6-0, 6-2, win over Wahnon while
Steven Duka did not lose a set in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Alexander Kalb at fifth singles and
Gabriel Mashaal knocked off Samuel Edery, 6-0 and 6-0, at the sixth position.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, April 6, as they travel to Philadelphia to face Saint Joseph's University at Noon.
