Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis squad made it two-for-two this weekend with a 5-2 win over the University of Rhode Island today on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
Because of impending weather, the match started with the singles matches with Fordham winning four of the six. After losing at fifth singes, Fordham won the next three singles matches.
Arina Taluyenko picked up the first Fordham point with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Erin Chratian at first singes and then
Nicole Li defeated Sydney Chratian at the sixth spot, 6-4, 6-2.
Tatiana Grigoryan made it a 3-1 match for Fordham with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles over Tiara Higuchi.
After Rhode Island took third singles,
Genevieve Quenville clinched the match for Fordham with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win at fourth singles over Halah Davis.
Fordham then won the doubles point, winning two of the three double matches.
Arina Taluyenko and
Tatiana Grigoryan took first doubles from Chratian and Ariel Haber, 6-2, and
Nicole Li and
Genevieve Quenville defeated Halah Davis and Sydney Chratian, 6-1, at the third spot.
The Rams return to play on Wednesday, April 17, as they host Stony Brook University on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts at 12:30 p.m.
