Queens, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis squad took a trip to Queens this afternoon and came away with a 6-1 win over Queens College at the Queens College Tennis Center.
The match opened with the Rams winning the doubles point, sweeping all three matches.
Arina Taluyenko and
Tatiana Grigoryan defeated Reehan Rashad and Luisa Auffarth at first doubles, 6-4, while
Nicole Li and
Genevieve Quenville took second doubles from Anica Knezevic and Louisa Brunetti, 6-3.
Alexis Zobeideh and
Whitney Weisberg completed the sweep with a 6-2 win over Marisa Ostoja and Aasen Sorsdahl at the third position.
The Rams then took five of the six singles matches for the 6-1 win. Taluyenko started singles play with a 6-2 and 6-1 win over Rashad at first singles before Weisberg defeated Arac Bel Aleixendri at the sixth spot, 7-5 and 6-0.
Quenville was victorious at fourth singles over Brunetti, 6-3 and 6-2, to clinch the match for the Rams before Li defeated Ostoja, 6-4 and 6-3, at third singles.
Grigoryan picked up the final point for Fordham with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win over Auffarth at second singles.
The Rams return to action on Monday, March 18, as they face Oral Roberts University in Orlando, Florida.
