Orlando, Fla. – The Fordham women's tennis squad opened its spring trip to Florida with a 6-1 win over Oral Robert University at the U.S. Tennis Campus, the Rams' third straight win on the year.
The Rams opened the match taking the doubles point, winning both completed matches.
Arina Taluyenko and
Tatiana Grigoryan defeated Gorana Kadijevic and Ceijenia Cornelius at first doubles, 6-3, and then
Nicole Li and
Genevieve Quenville knocked off Flavia Gutierrez Bal and Valentina Gisbert, 6-3, at third doubles.
Fordham then took five of the six singles matches for the win.
Tatiana Grigoryan got it started with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Rai Sengupta at third singles before Taluyenko defeated Cornelius at first singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Gianna Insogna made it 4-0 for the Rams with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Gutierrez at the fourth spot and before Li and Quenville closed out the scoring for Fordham. Quenville was victorious over Gisbert in straight sets, 6-3, while Li dropped the first set to Andrea Vasiljevic at fifth singles, 6-4, but came back to win the next two, 6-2 and 11-9.
The Rams continue their spring trip with a match against Hope College in Orlando on Tuesday.
