Orlando, Fla. – The Fordham women's tennis squad made it two-for-two on Wednesday night as the Rams defeated Hope College, 6-1, on their spring trip to Florida at the USTA Training Center, the Rams' fourth straight win on the year.
The Rams opened the match taking the doubles point, winning all three matches.
Gianna Insogna and
Maia Balce defeated Amanda Bandrowski and Claire Hallock at first doubles, 7-5, while
Nicole Li and
Genevieve Quenville were victorious at second doubles over Sydney Jackson and Taylor LaBarge, 6-1.
Alexis Zobeideh and
Whitney Weisberg completed the sweep for the Rams with a 6-1 at the third position over Bailey Chorney and Erin LaBarge.
Fordham then took five of six singles matches for the 6-1 win. Insogna took second singles from Bandrowski without dropping a set, 6-0 and 6-0, while Li dropped the first set at third singles to Sydney Jackson, 6-3, but came back to win the second, 6-0, and the tiebreaker, 10-2.
At fourth singles, Quenville defeated LaBarge in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-1, while Zobeideh was also victorious in straight sets over Chorney at the fifth spot, 6-0 and 6-1, and Weisberg upended Liz Pniewski at sixth singles, 6-0 and 6-2.
The Rams return to action on Friday, March 29, as they host LIU on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts at 3:00 p.m.
