Bronx, N.Y. – (February 9, 2019) – The Fordham squash team rallied for four come-from-behind wins on Saturday afternoon, as the Rams posted a 7-2 team win over NYU at the Lombardi Squash Courts.
With the win, Fordham improved to 17-5 on the year.
The Rams started off on a good note with
Will Pantle recording a 3-0 win over Ginno Geocadin at third position by scores of 11-9, 11-6, and 11-4, while
Patrick Rodden earned a five-game win over Ashad Hajelm at the #2 position, 11-2, 8-11, 13-11, 5-11, and 11-5.
Tommy White
Fordham picked up its third point of the match in fifth position, as
Tommy White knocked off Karan Kocchar in four games, 11-5, 11-13, 11-5, and 11-5.
NYU earned win at #1 and #9 to make it a 3-2 score, but Fordham rallied back at fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth position to earn the 7-2 win. In each of those matches, Fordham lost the opening game, but was able to rally back and win the match in either four or five games.
Griffin Fitzgerald won at fourth position over Andre Megliola in five game, 10-12, 11-4, 11-8, 7-11, and 12-10, with
Justin Deckoff coming away with a four-game win over Max White at sixth position, 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, and 11-9.
Lastly, it was
Winthrop Reed IV ousting Rishasy Periwal in four games at seventh postion, 7-11, 11-6, 11-6, and 11-5, while
Justin Esposito knocked off Alex Murphy at eighth position, 10-12, 11-4, 11-5, and 11-6.
The Rams are back in action on Sunday, February 10
th, when the Rams play a pair of matches in Middletown, Connecticut, against Connecticut College at 12:00 PM and Wesleyan at 2:00 PM.
