Philadelphia, Pa. – The Fordham men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the spring with a 7-0 shutout loss at Penn at the Hecht Tennis Center on Saturday.
Fordham opened the match by dropping the doubles point, losing both of the completed matches.
Finn Kemper and
Max Green were defeated at first doubles by Max Cancilla and Aleks Huryn, 6-1, and
Allen Thornes and
Jofre Segarra fell at third doubles to Jason Hildebrandt and Jonah Jurick, 6-2. Fabian Mauritzson and
Lutwin de Macar trailed Dmitry Shatalin and Kaden Funk, 4-3, when the match at the second position was halted.
The Rams then dropped all six singles matches in straight sets. de Macar put up a fight at third singles, falling to Hildebrandt, 7-5 and 7-6 (5).
The Rams return to action on Sunday, February 10, as they host Sacred Heart University at Life Time Athletic in Harrison, N.Y., at 6:00 p.m.
