Kansas City, Mo. – (December 9, 2019) – United Soccer Coaches announced on Monday the 2019 All-Region Teams for NCAA Division I. Among the honorees was Fordham senior defender
Joergen Oland (Drammen, Norway) who was named Third Team All-Southeast Region. It is the third straight year that Oland has been an All-Region selection.
Oland was one of ten Atlantic 10 players honored by United Soccer Coaches. Regions are broken up by conferences with the Southeast Region having players from the Atlantic 10 Conference, Conference USA, and Sun Belt Conference.
Oland repeated as the Atlantic 10's Defensive Player of the Year, joining Anthony Manning (Saint Louis – 2013 & 2014) and Patrick Hannigan (Temple – 2003 & 2004) as the only players to win the award twice, as well as in consecutive years. Oland's award marked the third consecutive year that a Fordham player has been named Defensive Player of the Year, which began with Matthew Lewis in 2017, and the fourth time overall (Ryan Meara – 2011).
A two-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 performer, Oland led the Fordham defense to a 1.08 team goals against average and seven shutouts. He also contributed on the offensive end, adding four goals and one assist for nine points, which was good for second on the team in goals and points.
