Stony Brook, N.Y. – (October 1, 2019) – In a season that has seen bounces go both ways, it was no surprise that Tuesday night's men's soccer match between Fordham and Stony Brook hinged on one bounce of the ball at LaValle Stadium. Minutes later, Stony Brook was on the offensive rush with Stephen Turnbull coming up the right side. Turnbull laid a cross to the top of the six-yard box, which Fordham's
Joergen Oland attempted to deflect away, but the ball stayed inside the right post for an own goal and a 1-0 Stony Brook lead in the 50
th minute.
Konstantin Weis
Kaiser would make a couple of saves on
Filippo Ricupati in the 63
rd and 66
th minutes, keeping the game at 1-0. Fordham's best chance at tying the game came in the 88
th minute, when
Paul Makaj connected on a one-timer from 12 yards out, but Kaiser made a diving save to his left to finish the one-goal decision.
In net, Kaiser ended the match with five saves, while Weis had two stops for Fordham.
