Cambridge, Mass. – The Fordham women's tennis team continued its Ivy League weekend on Sunday with a 7-0 loss at Harvard. The Rams opened the weekend with a loss at Yale on Friday.
Fordham opened the match by dropping the doubles point, losing the two completed doubles matches. Harvard's Rachel Lim and Jenna Friedel defeated Fordham's
Arina Taluyenko and
Tatiana Grigoryan, 6-3, and Erica Oosterhout and Natasha Gonzalez upended
Maia Balce and
Gianna Insogna, 6-0. Fordham's
Alexis Zobeideh and
Nicole Li were ahead of Harvard's Annika Bassey and Anna Li, 5-2, when the match was halted.
In singles play, Taluyenko took the first set from Oosterhout, 6-2, before Oosterhout won the second 6-3, and the tiebreaker, 12-10.
At second singles, Balce fell to Friedel, 6-4 and 6-3, while at the third position Grigoryan dropped a 6-1, 6-3, decision to Lim, and
Genevieve Quenville lost to Rachel Eason at fourth singles, 6-1 and 6-1.
At the fifth singles spot, Li was upended by Gonzalez, 6-0 and 6-3, and Insogna was knocked off by Alexis Milunovich at sixth singles, 6-1 and 6-2.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, February 2, as they host Quinnipiac University at Life Time Athletic in Harrison, N.Y. at 7:00 p.m.
