LAST TIME OUT: After beginning Homecoming Weekend with a conference opening victory over Richmond, the Fordham women's soccer team looked to end the weekend, as well as its five-match homestand on a high note. The Rams were certainly pitch perfect on Sunday, posting a 4-0 win over the George Washington Colonials at Jack Coffey Field.
The scoring started in the 16
th minute, when
Milan Bornstein was pulled down from behind in the box for a foul, awarding a penalty kick to Fordham.
Brooke Salmon stepped to the spot and converted to the bottom right corner of the net for her first goal of the season.
Margaret Roughley scored twice on Sunday.
The score remained 1-0 into the second half, when George Washington got a one-timer from Maria Pareja, but the shot went right into Fordham goalkeeper
Kelly LaMorte for the save.
The Rams then started taking on insurance, as the Rams made it 2-0 in the 59
th minute. On the rush,
Morgan Busacca headed the ball up to
Amanda Miller near the top of the box. The goalkeeper and a defender converged on Miller, with Miller deflecting the ball away for a shot into the wide open net for her first goal of the season.
Fordham added a third goal on an outstanding rush in the 69
th minute.
Milan Bornstein played the ball up the right side for Miller. Miller put an immediate cross into the box for
Margaret Roughley, who slid the ball past the keeper into the lower right corner for her third of the year.
Roughley wasn't done as she knocked in her second goal of the game in the 74
th minute off a cross from
