New York, N.Y. – It was a banner day for the Fordham cross country teams at the NYIT Invitational on Saturday as both the Ram men and women captured their respective team championship and freshman
Bridget Alex won the women's individual title.
It was the first win for Alex in her young collegiate career, as she crossed the finish line in a career-best time of 18:05.98.
Senior
Blake Elwood crossed the finish line next for the Rams finishing third in 18:28.65, followed by
Kelsey Coppinger (4
th – 18:45.14),
Maeve O'Connor (10
th – 19:45.62),
Bridget White (14
th – 20:18.32),
Kieran Hanrahan (20:59.41) and
Jessica Walker-Corbett (21:09.44).
Fordham won the team title with a score of 32, followed by St. John's (33), LIU Post (77), NYIT (106), Pace (110), USMMA (155), Bridgeport (206) and Old Westbury (217).
Junior
Matthew Roma led the way for the Rams on the men's side, finishing third in 26:36.55. Roma joined in the top ten by
Thomas FitzPatrick who finished fifth in 26:53.21 and
Patrick Norako who placed sixth in 26:58.80. Also competing for Fordham were

Fordham won the men's team championship with a total score of 37, followed by NYIT (51), Pace (62), USMMA (112), LIU Post (119), Queens College (188), Bridgeport (194) and Old Westbury (204).
The Fordham cross country teams will next be in action on Saturday, September 29 at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University. Races begin at 9:30 a.m.
