New York, N.Y. – (August 26, 2018) – Columbia's Talia Tyler notched a goal and assist on Sunday afternoon to lead the Lions to a 3-0 win over the Fordham Rams in women's soccer action at Commisso Soccer Stadium in New York.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 0-3, while Columbia is 1-0-1.
Columbia struck for two goals in the first half with the first coming in the 25
th minute. Emily Koe and Emma Anderson got loose on the right side for a give-and-go goal by Koe, her first of the season.
Then in the final seconds of the half, Columbia was awarded their ninth corner kick of the period. The corner turned into a scramble in front with Talia Tyler getting the final touch and tucking the ball into the lower left corner of the goal for her first of the year.

The Lions finished the scoring in the 77
th minute, when Gracie Wall caused a turnover, pushing the ball to Tyler, who immediately found Mallaika Tomar for a semi-breakaway. Tomar then tucked the ball inside the left post for the 3-0 final.
In net, Columbia's Sophia Whitehouse and Marie Matthews combined for the shutout with Whitehouse making three saves. Fordham's
Kelly LaMorte had four saves for the Rams.
The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Thursday, August 30
th, when the Rams have their home opener against Hofstra at Jack Coffey Field, starting at 7:00 PM.
