Bronx, N.Y. - Though they have been back on campus for almost a month, some Fordham University student-athletes spent part of their Sunday morning outside the various dorms on campus, helping the incoming freshmen and their families unload their vehicles. In what has become an annual event for the Rams, the student-athletes came to the aid of the New Student Orientation staff and the Office of Residential Life by lending a hand to make Opening Day run smoothly.
"The New Student Orientation team has done another great job at handling Opening Day this year," said Fordham head football coach
Joe Conlin. "I'm glad that we can help them out with some of the heavy lifting as the student-athletes experience the Jesuit ideal of being men and women for others.

Members of the football, track/cross country, men's soccer, water polo, volleyball and cheerleading squads assisted with Opening Day today with help from the dance and men's rugby teams. The cheerleaders greeted the new students as they pulled onto campus and the other student-athletes hauled boxes and other heavy goods, including refrigerators, televisions and cases of water, up flights of stairs, gleaning admiration from parents and students who thought they would have to do the heavy lifting themselves.
