Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis team defeated Queens College 5-2 at the Hawthorn Rooney Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon.
The Rams started strong taking the doubles point as
Maia Balce and
Gianna Insogna defeated Laura Ortega Jover and Louisa Brunetti 6-3 at second doubles and
Tatiana Grigoryan and
Carolina Sa defeated Line Sorsdahl Aasen and Araceli Bel Aleixendri 6-2 at the third doubles position.
In singles play, Grigoryan got things started in first singles, defeating Reehan Rashad 6-1, 6-4. Finishing next was Insogna who bested Bel Aleixandri 6-2, 6-0 in fourth singles. Balce clinched the match for the Rams in third singles, defeating Emy Alpund 6-3, 6-0.
Estelle Wong also picked up a victory in second singles, defeating Brunetti 6-4, 6-3 in second singles.
The Rams return to action April 14 as they travel to Stony Brook, N.Y. to take on the Seawolves.
