Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Dropped, 79-54, at RV/NR Dayton

Rams Struggle with Shot, Allow Flyers to Shoot 51.8% in Loss

Dayton, Ohio – The Fordham women's basketball team was outgunned at RV/NR Dayton on Sunday afternoon as the Flyers secured another Atlantic 10 regular season title with a 79-54 result at UD Arena. With the loss, the Rams fall to 20-7 overall and 11-3 in league action, while Dayton improves to 21-4 and 14-0, respectively.

Fordham started off well with a 6-2 lead to begin the contest but the Flyers responded with five unanswered points to take a slim 7-6 lead at the first media timeout that eventually grew to a 14-0 run over the next several minutes. The Rams would get within five on multiple occasions but the Flyers hot shooting on the day kept the visitors at bay as the hosts eventually grew their lead to 20-plus points late.

G'mrice Davis led the way for Fordham with 15 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Bre Cavanaugh added 12 points and Kendell Heremaia chipped in 11 off the bench. The Rams' top three scorers on the season, Cavanaugh, Davis, and Lauren Holden struggled with their shot all afternoon, combining to hit just 10-of-38 attempts from the floor.

The Rams were outrebounded again by the Flyers, just the sixth time overall that's happened this season, 35-33, although Fordham doubled its opponents' output on the offensive glass, 12-6. Dayton outscored Fordham, 19-9, off turnovers and, 19-3, on fastbreak opportunities.

Fordham has another quick turnaround, traveling to Duquesne in a battle of the second and third-place A-10 teams, before finishing the regular season at home against Saint Joseph's on Saturday. The Rams and Dukes tip off at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
