Swimming & Diving Sweeps Meet Against Fairfield

Women Stay Perfect with 153-80 Win, while Men Earn First Win of the Year with 167-61 Victory Over Stags

Bronx, N.Y. – (November 9, 2018) – The Fordham swimming & diving team continued its season on Friday, as the Rams swept their meet against the Fairfield Stags at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.  The Fordham women improved to 3-0 on the year with a 153-80 win against Fairfield, while the men earned their first win of teh season, 167-61, over the Stags.
 
The Fordham men posted a clean sweep against Fairfield winning all 13 events on the night, led by Christopher Sleutjes, who won the lone dual event winner on the night.  He captured first in the 200 freestyle in 1:45.60 and then followed with a win in the 500 freestyle in 4:51.42.
 
Fordham also had four season-best performances among the event winners, as Travis Monahan won the 50 freestyle in a season-best time of 21.65 seconds, while Casey Sawyer recorded a season-best time of 52.93 seconds in a win in the 100 butterfly.  In diving, Diego Perez posted the best score thus far on the one-meter board at 213.45, with Christopher Craig registering a season-best score of 251.26 on the three-meter board.

Other individual event winners included Doug Grisbaum (1000 freestyle – 10:15.21), Greg Lombana (200 IM – 1:58.89), Danny McGowan (100 free – 49.12), Spencer Clarke (100 back – 54.12), and Q Steffen (100 breast - 1:00.83).  In relay action, Auston Ramsay, Monahan, A.J. Frakes, and Joseph Vizza won the 200 medley relay in 1:36.16 with Monahan, Clarke, Frakes, and Bryce Bollesen winning the 200 freestyle relay in 1:26.80.
 
On the women's side, Fordham won 12 of the 13 events on Friday, led by Molly Dunn, who won the lone dual event winner, capturing first both diving events.  She scored 231.23 on the one-meter board and 244.43 on the three-meter board, both season-high scores.  Hannah McGee also recorded a season-best time for the Rams, as she won the 100 butterfly event in 57.99 seconds.
 
Other individual event winners were Kate Magill in the 1000 freestyle (10:57.73), Tara Brunner in the 200 freestyle (1:54.14), Kysha Marie Altura in the 50 freestyle (24.88), Katherine von der Lippe in the 200 IM (2:13.55), Caitlin McNary in the 100 freestyle (52.93), Samantha McDonald in the 100 backstroke (1:00.89), and Milly Furneaux in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.96).
 
In the women's relays, Altura, Gabrielle Celia, Kiara Norris, and McDonald took first in the 200 medley relay in 1:48.48, while Norris, McDonald, Naima Mackrel, and Theresa Mullen captured the 200 freestyle relay event in 1:37.53.
 
The Fordham swimming & diving teams will next be in action on November 16-18, as the Rams head to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania for the three-day Bucknell Invitational.
