Women’s Soccer Edged in Overtime by Saint Joseph’s

Rams Finish Regular Season at Duquesne on Sunday

Bronx, N.Y. – (October 18, 2018) – Saint Joseph's Morgan Bower knocked in the only goal of the game in the 96th minute, as the Hawks edged the Fordham Rams, 1-0 in overtime, in Atlantic 10 women's soccer action on Thursday night at Jack Coffey Field.

The loss puts Fordham at 9-7-1 overall, 6-2-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Joseph's improved to 12-4-2 on the year, 7-2 in the conference.

Though the Rams were outshot in regulation, 13-11, Fordham had the only shots on goal, making the Hawks' goalkeeper Grace Bendon make four saves.  The best of those chances came off the boot of Emma Johnson in the 81st minute, as she rocketed a shot from the left side, but was stopped by Bendon

After playing through 90 minutes of scoreless regulation, the only goal of the game came in the 96th minute off a set piece.  Paige Bergman played a long free kick into the box that found teammate Mackenzie Ehresman.  Off of Ehresman, Morgan Bower got to the loose ball for the Hawks and knocked it into the open net for her sixth goal of the season.

For the Rams, Saige Bingman led the way with three shots, while Margaret Roughley and Milan Bornstein each had two.

The Fordham women's soccer team will next be in action on Sunday, October 21st, as the Rams travel to Duquesne for a 1:00 PM match to end the regular season.  The Rams are still alive for a potential home game for the Atlantic 10 quarterfinals, but will need a win and some help to stay at Jack Coffey Field for the opening round of the championship.
