Box Score (pdf)

St. Louis, Mo. – The Fordham women's basketball team saw a double-digit lead at halftime evaporate during a lengthy Saint Louis run but the two schools exchanged blows all the way until the final whistle at the end of double overtime, 91-85, despite redshirt freshman Bre Cavanaugh's 37 points, a new single-game school record by a Ram rookie. With the loss, Fordham's first on the road this conference season, the Rams fall to 17-6 overall and 8-2 in Atlantic 10 action, while the Billikens improve to 12-10 and 6-3, respectively.

Cavanaugh scored 25 of her 37 points over the game's final half hour, including eight points in double overtime. She becomes the third freshman to record multiple 30-point games in a single campaign and the sixth Ram, at any level, to do so in a single year, and set the new bar for A-10 players this season, besting Kelli Prange, of George Washington, who scored 36 just last Wednesday. Mary Goulding tallied her fifth double-double of the season in G'mrice Davis' absence, finishing with a season-high 18 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, plus a team-high four assists, block, and two steals, and Lauren Holden added 17 points on an efficient 7-of-14 shooing from the field. Saint Louis' Maddison Gits led the Billikens with 34 points on 11-of-15 shooting and 9-of-12 from the charity stripe, and Jackie Kemph added a game-high nine assists to go with her 21 points.

Fordham led 41-27 at the half, its largest lead of the day, but Saint Louis used a 28-12 third period, including a 24-4 run, to take a 55-53 lead into the fourth quarter. The two schools traded blows the rest of the way up to and including the final seconds. Cavanaugh scored the Rams' final nine points in regulation, including clutch free throws with 10 seconds to play, and Saint Louis' Jordyn Frantz's last-second effort from behind the arc fell short, sending the game to overtime, Fordham's third this season.

After a 5-5 opening five minutes, Cavanaugh's and-one to start double overtime gave Fordham a one-point lead. However, Saint Louis answered immediately on the other end and would lead the rest of the way.

Fordham won the battle of the boards, 43-35, including a 14-2 margin on the offensive glass. Saint Louis shot the ball better, 53.3% compared to Fordham's 40.0% clip. Both teams committed 13 turnovers but Saint Louis tallied 22 assists to the Rams' 10.

The Rams host Rhode Island this Sunday afternoon in the Rose Hill Gym with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
